Musikologie is not a professional course. It is not linked to specific employment paths. The career opportunities for musicologists are nevertheless diverse and dynamic. Graduates of our BA or MA program work in the following areas:
- Academic research and teaching (at universities, other academic institutions, conservatoires, music schools, or in adult education)
- Music archives, libraries, museums, and documentation
- Media (broadcasting, print media, internet)
- Culture management (event organization)
- Culture industry (publishing houses, recording industry)
- Cultural administration and cultural policy
With additional qualifications, musicologists also work in practically oriented areas such as:
- Performance
- Composition
- Education
- Medicine
- Therapy
