General information about studying musicology
Authorization and special conditions
Admission can take place either at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG) or at the University of Graz. Students must enrol as "main students" at one of the two universities and as "co-enrolment students" at the other. Prerequisites for studying are the provisions laid down in §§ 63, 64 and 65 of the University Act 2002; see also the statutes of the University of Graz under "Study Law Provisions", which apply to this degree program.

- at least passive acquisition of other foreign languages relevant to the subject matter of the course

We live in societies that use music to accompany the rituals of everyday life, advertise goods with musical support and sell music as a commodity, regard music as their cultural heritage and relate their cultural or national identity to music. The critical examination of these processes, which is the subject of this degree programme, therefore enables graduates to work in the following fields of the labour market in particular:
