Teaching is confined to two semesters, which last from 1 October to 31 January (winter semester) and from 1 March to 30 June (summer semester) in each year. The degrees offered are Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Students may enrol in either of the two participating universities.

Subdisciplines

All students in the Bachelors program receive a thorough grounding in five main musicological subdisciplines. The subdisciplines are:

  • jazz and popular music (Jazz und Popularmusik)
  • ethnomusicology (Ethnomusikologie)
